last two pictures from our day at the science museum
As we were walking up the steps the little guy kept fluttering around me. . .

When I went to take a picture of a different butterfly he decided to land on my arm! :-O Notice I'm still holding my camera. . . ;-)

Ailynne and Andell
Ailynne and Andell are about to celebrate their 2nd anniversary and gave me the opportunity to shoot their anniversary portraits. We headed to Hermann Park at 7:45am - it was chilly, cloudy and windy but they were great sports. Here are a few shots from this morning:

Museum of Natural Science - Butterfly Exhibit
This morning, we headed to Hermann Park to scope out locations for pictures I will be taking tomorrow. It started raining and my hubby had the BEST idea - we spent the day at the Science museum! Morning is the best time to visit the Butterfly Exhibit. The butterflies are active and best of all - NO CHILDREN running around. :-P

pictures to come.

FOUND!
My hubby doesn't like it when I do this but I cannot leave two beautiful dogs running around in the street. Hopefully, they got out while their owner was at work and we'll get a call later this evening.

Thought you'd be interested in this powerful short film from Dove, which explores how the "effortless" beauty we see on billboards is actually created. To view the film, and learn how you can make a difference, visit:

@#!$%&*!@^$%!@&@^#
Gosh darnit!!!!
I finished editting the images from Laura's Bridal Shower late last night and planned to create the slideshow this evening. UNFORTUNATELY, I accidentally deleted the folder with the processed images. :*(
FORTUNATELY, I have the unprocessed images on a CD and I'll begin re-editing this weekend. In the meantime, before I deleted the folder I managed to post them in my online gallery.

Slideshow to come.

practicing with morning light. . . (between 8:30 - 9am)
I processed these on Adobe Elements which doesn't give me the ISO I used.
F5.6 SS 1/320 ISO?? Natural Light

F5.6 SS 1/40 ISO?? Natural Light
This picture is terribly overexposed but notice the shadow of Buddy's tongue sticking out. :-P

F5.6 SS 1/50 ISO?? Natural Light

F10.0 SS 1/200 ISO??

I learned how to read the histogram on my camera's LCD screen. Little did I know how much that funny little picture could tell me about my exposure.

Laura's Bridals

On Friday, I went to Paraiso Maravilla with Laura to assist her with taking her bridal pictures. I used the opportunity to practice taking pictures. After I got over my fear of the camera, I think I got some great shots.
Things I have to work on:
indoor lighting and fill flash
My flash chose Friday to not work so I had to use ambient light when we were indoors. Because of this, I had to bump up my ISO to over 1000 (which caused grainy pictures) AND some of the pictures have harsh shadows. Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with what I produced.
I'd like to get in more practice so if ANYONE wants pictures of themselves send me an e-mail. janelyn070306 AT gmail DOT com
(You'll need your speakers turned on to hear the music.)
I think you'll agree with me when I say she makes a BEAUTIFUL bride. :-)p.s. Xerxes Lorenzo was the principal photographer and I can't wait to see what he produces.
