Girl's Night Tonight!
I'm so excited - tonight I'm hosting a "Girl's Night"! :-)
Every once in awhile my girlfriends and I will get together for a "Girl's Night" which basically consists of good food, wine and lots of laughter and conversation. Sometimes we'll try to watch a movie or Sex in the City but it always gets overpowered by 'men talk' or just reminiscing about the past.
I've always wanted to host a small party where I cooked ALL of the food and tonight is my chance. I'm a Food-Network junkie and one thing I've learned from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa), Giada de Laurentis (Everyday Italian) and Rachel Ray (30 minute meals) is to have dishes that can be prepared for in advance. BOY, are they right!
So, following their advice I planned a menu around things that needed to be chilled or could sit around at room temperature. Last night, it took me THREE HOURS to prepare the appetizers and salad. If I would've waited until this evening - I don't know what I would have done!
When I get home this evening all I have to do is cook Chicken Piccata (which will take 30 minutes MAX) and skewer the antipasta. It's going to be a fun night!
I recorded a video BLOG entry but my little point and shoot camera cut me off as I was talking about my AMAZING bruschetta recipe. Here it is anyway and I'll share my AWESOME recipes in tomorrow's blog post:
